About

Hello...
I'm Maria Agop

This website was created as part of the Master of Educational Technology program at the University of British Columbia (ETEC 523). I have been an online English teacher since 2016. I received my BA in English Literature & Language in 2015. My experience as a teacher in a physical classroom didn't last more than a year, but it was enough for me to see the daily struggles of teachers. After transitioning to online teaching, I fell in love with creating my own multi-modal materials and wanted to help teachers create their own 21st-century learning materials. Minima was an idea that came to me while looking through DALL.E 2, which is an AI software that transforms text into visual images. I envisioned a future where teachers would be able to change materials into multi-modal teaching materials (games, videos, text, and visuals) with the help of a trained AI and close the gap between teachers and instructional designers. Teachers could also gain insight by micro-learning the latest research, and digital strategies (e.g., AR and VR) to enhance their classrooms. Teacher training in the above-mentioned areas is crucially needed.
